Palma Fishing BoatsPalma is the cosmopolitan capital of Mallorca. A truly stunning city with its amazing medieval cathedral and streets. Palma offers a rich mix of culture, history, dining, shopping and nightlife.

At the unspoilt northern tip of Mallorca lies the beautiful bay of Puerto Pollensa, with its long, sandy beach and open-air cafes, restaurants and excellent shops. Once a small fishing village and Pollensa's harbour, Puerto Pollensa is now a magnificent bay filled with yachts and fishing boats with a 1.5 mile seafront promenade.

The views across the bay to rugged headlands are outstanding. On the other side of the bay is the pine walk – a pretty promenade sheltered by pine trees stretching round the horseshoe bay.

Puerto Pollensa's sandy beaches are divided by breakwaters and so are ideal for children.

streetThere is a market at the Puerto Pollensa every Wednesday from 8am to 1pm selling fresh local produce and local delicacies. A few miles inland is the medieval town of Pollensa with its narrow and twisting streets boasting some excellent restaurants. Pollensa is a peaceful and tranquil town that remains very typically Spanish.

It is four miles from the coast, nestling between two hills at the eastern end of the Tramuntana mountains. Historic buildings line the narrow and twisting medieval streets.

There are traditional Mallorcian residences lining narrow streets and alleys. Park the car and go for a walk to explore Pollensa at it's best. The heart of the old town is the central square, Placa Major. Here there are the many cafés and bars along with excellent restaurants.

On a Sunday it hosts the lively and vibrant market with a wonderful array of fruits and vegetables, cheeses, hams, meats, olives as well as clothes, shoes, jewelry and artworks. Sit at one of the cafes and watch time slowly go by.

The most famous walk in Pollensa is up the 365 steps of the tree lined 'Calvario' At the top you will find a tiny church with amazing views over the town and across wooded valleys to the sea.

S'ubac is one of the sub regions of Pollensa and is 7 minutes drive away from the old town.

It is a quiet residential area that consists of an array of different villas and is a popular location for second homes for Palma residents as it is just a 30 minute drive from Palma yet a few minutes to the beaches of Pollensa and just a few more minutes to Calla san Vicente and Formentor.
